Taihu New City in Wuxi's Binhu district, East China's Jiangsu province has received support from the General Sports Administration of China to build a sports and health demonstration area and sports industry park.

Over 1,800 runners from 40 enterprises took part in a race near Taihu New City to welcome the New Year on March 3. There was a 12km route and a 6km route, both of which ran along Gonghu Lake Square, named in 2017 as the most beautiful jogging route in Jiangsu province.

Taihu New City has hosted the race in March for three years. The World Taekwondo Grand Slam also permanently settled there in 2017, and the National Karate Championship series will be held in Taihu New City this March as well.

More international sports events will be coming to Taihu New City this year, including the International Karate League and other international martial arts events.

As a new eco-city demonstration area, a pilot area for scientific and technological innovation, a leader in modern industry, and an attractive place for high-end talent, Taihu New City has for the past ten years promoted the construction of artificial landscapes, tourism and recreational facilities. A number of key tourism projects have been carried out to improve the city's tourism, sports, and health industries.

Taihu New City aims to turn itself into a high-end holiday resort, which will in turn help Wuxi become one of the most attractive and distinctive cities in China, as well as a first-class city in terms of health and sports.
