The city of Wuxi, Jiangsu province, began trial operation of its Metro Line 2, on Dec 18, with thousands of passengers going along to enjoy the test drive.

The line crosses five urban areas -- the Binhu, Nanchang, Chongan, Xishan, and New districts -- together with subway Line 1, forming a traffic artery in the shape of a cross.

The local government's strategy calls for the city to have four metro lines, reaching 112.6 kilometers.
